What is Legal Cannabis Research? Cannabis has only been fully legal (i.e., for both medical and adult-use) in Canada since 2018. While the medical legal market has been commercially legal since 2013, the adult-use or recreational market only became legal in October 2018, with the complete legalization of all product forms happening in October 2019. As an industry that is fast setting the pace in innovation, disruption and equity and growth, currently with a legal market size of around barely $1.2 billion a year, cannabis is pegged to bring $8 billion annually through legal channels alone by 2025, according to various market estimates.
