CMRP Overview

The MRIA Institute for Professional Development offers a Comprehensive Marketing Research Exam (CMRE). Members who successfully pass the exam are awarded the designation of Certified Marketing Research Professional (CMRP). This is the premiere Canadian research designation and signifies a high level of knowledge and capability in marketing research theory and practice, and adherence to rigorous ethical standards set out in MRIA’s Code of Conduct and Good Practice.

Next CMRE Prep Course: November 1-2, 2018

Next CMRE Exam: November 21-22, 2018

There are currently four pathways to achieving the CMRP designation. Each designed to meet the needs of different segments of the MRIA membership.

PATH 1: POST GRADUATE

This certification pathway is designed to build a solid foundation of professional competence among new practitioners who have successfully completed an MRIA approved Post Graduate Marketing Research Program at a Post Secondary Institution. There are currently five approved programs:

·         Georgian College: Research Analyst Program

·         Algonquin College: Marketing Research and Business Intelligence Program

·         University of Georgia: MRII program

·         Humber College: Research Analyst Program (beginning with 2015 graduates)

·         Centennial College: Marketing - Research & Analytics (beginning with 2017 graduates)

PATH 2: MRIA COURSES

This pathway is for those who have not completed an MRIA approved Post Graduate Marketing Research Program at a Post-Secondary institution. It requires completion of MRIA’s 12 Core Courses, combined with experience.

If candidates have courses from university, college other than an MRIA approved Post Graduate Marketing Research Program. These courses will be assessed on a case by case basis. To apply equivalencies, please download and complete our Course Exemption Request Form [PDF Format]

The courses in Path 2 may be taken in class, online or a combination of both methodologies.

PATH 3: CHALLENGE THE CMRE

You’ve been around the block and have seen some dramatic changes to marketing research in your six years in the biz. You're good at what you do; even your boss says so. You live on the edge and are not at all interested in reading volumes about research methodology. We get it.  You can prove your mettle by telling us about your experience and writing the CMRE exam.

PATH 4: EXPERIENCED PRACTITIONER

You are the one that comes to mind when people talk about experts in marketing research. With more than ten exciting years in the field, you are the 'go to' person when questions arise on ethics or polling or margins of error. Task forces and boards of directors seek your participation and opinion. Even other CMRPs will vouch for your expertise and would applaud your continued success as a CMRP. We can get you there in a few short steps.
