Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

While Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) comes into effect on July 1, 2014, there is still a considerable amount of ambiguity regarding how CASL will be applied and how it will affect various industries, including marketing research. The good news is that MRIA has received definitive confirmation from the federal government that the new law won't apply to legitimate marketing research where there is no attempt to solicit.

MRIA Disappointed with Senate's Inaction on Bill S-4, the Digital Privacy Act.

Toronto, June 18, 2014 - The Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA) was extremely disappointed with the Senate of Canada's decision on June 16 to vote in favour of passing Bill S-4, An Act to amend the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ('PIPEDA'). The primary role of the Coordinator Customer Relations & Events (CCRE) is to provide administrative support to Customer Relations and Events (CRE). Working with members, suppliers and internal staff, the incumbent is an effective communicator who is diplomatic, polished and customer service oriented. This position reports directly to the Manager of Communications. French would be an asset.
